Dr. Katelyn Kartes has been working at Southwest Childrens since 2021. She completed residency at Primary Children's Hospital and Medical School at the University of Washington.

She grew up in Jackson, WY - so is a ski bum at heart and has always loved exploring the outdoors. She met her husband Jacob during medical school in Seattle and agreed that Utah would be the perfect place to call home. You can often find them hiking, biking, snowboarding, or camping all around the state of Utah with their little dog Leni.

Before going into medicine Katelyn received a social work degree from the University of Montana. She worked as a social worker during the day and worked on getting into medical school at night. Blending social work and medicine gives her a unique perspective into complex social dynamics of patients and an interest in mental health treatment.

She decides to go into pediatrics because... well she's been obsessed with babies her whole life. Being your child's doctor is quite literally her dream job. Particular interests include general pediatrics, early childhood development, childhood emotional trauma, and adolescent medicine.
