Dr. Josh Maxwell is excited to be coming home to Utah and, in fact, grew up just a couple miles away from the office right here in West Jordan. He completed his medical training at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, where he spent time learning and training both on the beautiful island of St. Maarten and the fast-paced Long Island, NY. Afterwards he completed his pediatric residency in South Jersey just outside of Philadelphia. He is thrilled to be back in beautiful Utah and when not in clinic you will likely find him hiking or skiing. Dr. Maxwell is also a garage gym enthusiast and particularly enjoys taking care of sports injuries and loves to encourage kids (and parents) of all ages, sizes, and genders to incorporate weight training as part of a healthy lifestyle. Él aprendió su español en Buenos Aires, Argentina y a él le encanta la milanesa, una parrilla, y el fútbol. Dr. Maxwell is a proud dad of three girls and strives to treat your children as if they were his own.
Dr. Pari Mashkuri is excited about the future and continued development of Southwest Children’s Clinic. Born and raised in New York, Dr. Mashkuri attended medical school in Brooklyn, NY and completed her Pediatric residency in Los Angeles, CA. After two years of Pediatric ER in New York and working as a traveling doc in Alaska, she arrived in Salt Lake City in December 1996 to complete a three-month temporary assignment – and never left, finding private practice and the relationships with growing families a privilege. Initially drawn to the mountains in winter, Pari fell in love with all this state has to offer and has taken full advantage of the mountains, desert and rivers in all seasons. When not caring for your children or playing outside, she enjoys travel all over the world for fun, adventure and volunteer opportunities, and coast-to-coast to spend time with family.
Dr. Valerie Rahaniotis welcomes you to Southwest Children’s Clinic. Valerie received her medical training at the Chicago Medical School and completed her pediatric residency in Portland, Oregon. Born and raised in Utah, the beautiful landscape, four perfect seasons and family led Valerie back to Utah where she has happily established her pediatric practice. Valerie is thankful every day for her fantastic marriage and her three beautiful children. She enjoys her involvement with her children’s schools, athletics, theater, dance and music endeavors. Valerie loves to play baseball, swim, ski, hike, horseback ride and bike with her family and she looks forward to knowing and caring for yours.
Dr. Jeff Jackson had been practicing Pediatrics for 19 years at a little office just down the road before he joined the dynamic Pediatricians at Southwest Children’s Clinic in September 2012. Dr. Jackson completed his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He came to the newly opened Primary Children’s Medical Center in 1990, finishing his residency in 1993. He served as Chief Resident in 1994 and continued his involvement at Primary Children’s as medical staff president and as a member of the medical executive committee. In addition to caring for small humans he enjoys hiking, biking and hanging out with his wonderful wife and daughters. Dr. Jackson looks forward to caring for your kids.
Dr. Molly Montes is proud to be a member of the fabulous team at Southwest Children's Clinic since 2014. Originally from Seattle, she earned her MD at the University of Rochester after studying Biomedical Engineering at Yale University. She did her pediatric residency training at Primary Children's Medical Center in SLC and decided Utah was a great place to live, work, and have a family! She and her husband have two children, and when outside the office, she can be found hiking, biking, skiing, reading, or making and enjoying food.
She has served on the medical executive community at Jordan Valley Medical Center and in 2020 became a Certified Lactation Counselor to provide extra support for families interested in breastfeeding. She loves working with people of all ages and backgrounds and is delighted to care for your children and share in the wonderful journey of parenting.
Dr. Katelyn Kartes is joining our practice after doing residency at Primary Children's and couldn't be more excited to be a part of the team at Southwest Children's Clinic. She grew up in Jackson, WY - so is a ski bum at heart, which attracted her to the mountains in Utah. She has her bachelors degree in Social Work which gives her a unique training in complex social dynamics along with training in mental health treatment.
She graduated medical school at the University of Washington and chose pediatrics because... well she's been obsessed with babies her whole life. Being your child's doctor is quite literally her dream job. Particular interests include childhood development, childhood emotional trauma treatment, and adolescent medicine.
When outside of work she loves spending time with her husband who is training to be a infectious disease doctor at the University of Utah. They love being outside in the mountains snowboarding, hiking and camping.
